Travel Destination Badge

NOTE: This badge is designed to serve as requirements to earn an individual badge for any destination you travel to such as Orlando, FL; San Francisco, CA; Rome, Italy; etc. Simply adapt the requirements to where you are planning to travel. When ordering the badge, make sure to list the place so that the badge is designed appropriately. 

 

Preschool: Do three requirements including the two starred *

Level 1: Do four requirements including the two starred *

Level 2: Do five requirements including the two starred *

Level 3: Do six requirements including the two starred *

Level 4: Do seven requirements including the two starred *

Level 5: Do nine requirements including the two starred *

 

_____ 1.* Locate your travel destination on a map. How far is it from your home? How will you travel there? How long will it take? Make a plan for keeping yourself busy during travel so that you do not get bored. Levels 3 & Up: Know the costs involved in traveling to this destination.

_____ 2.* Find out at least 3 things your destination is known for. Maybe it has an amusement park, or skyscrapers, or a historical battlefield. Visit at least one, if possible.

 

Optional Requirements:

_____ 3. Find and list one style of architecture that is different from that in your home town. Levels 2-4: list three. Level 5: list five.

_____ 4. Find and list two types of plant/tree/flower that is different from that in your home town. Level 2: list two. Level 3: list four. Level 4: list five. Level 5: list seven.

_____ 5. Find out what major land/water features are nearby, such as bodies of water, mountains, deserts, rivers, etc.

_____ 6. Learn about the history of your travel destination and visit at least one historical site.

_____ 7. Learn about a famous person that came from your travel destination.

_____ 8. Find out what museums are in your travel destination and visit at least one.

_____ 9. Find out what type of food is common in your travel destination. Try at least one new local food.

_____ 10. Look at a map of your destination. How is the city laid out? Are the streets in a logical grid, or do they wind all over the place? Are there different sections of the city such as downtown, suburbs, commercial districts, manufacturing, etc?

_____ 11. Find what type of music originated in this region and listen to at least 3 songs.

_____ 12. Find out about an artist or artistic style that originated in or around your destination.
